Whiskey Painters of America – Zimmerman Gallery
The Zimmerman Gallery will be hosting the 2012 Whiskey Painters of America show from the end of September until the end of October. This is a very popular exhibit and many of the paintings are sold the first few days. If you have interest in a painting we recommend that you check out the show early.
A WHISKEY PAINTING is a miniature watercolor (4”x 5” max. image) painted by a bona-fide member of theWHISKEY PAINTERS OF AMERICA (WPA).
The WPA, formed in the late 1950s has a limited membership of 150. An artist must be sponsored by an existing member. ” A genuine Whiskey Painting consists of painting a miniature piece of art no larger than 4 X 5″ with watercolor by dipping your brush in some form of alcoholic spirits,…. then possibly sipping the alcohol, thereby enhancing the painting experience.
Whiskey paintings have been exhibited in at least 10 national shows across the nation. At this time, WPA has 2 annual shows…one in Cuyahoga falls, Ohio in April [It's 30' Th year], and one in Augusta, Georgia Sept.-Oct…[it's 8 Th year] . Other shows have been held in Commercial Galleries and Art Museums across the nation.. Paintings generally sell from a minimum of $ 75. to as high as $1500., with an average typically between $ 150. and $ 300.

As an Award winning artist, John Radeck‘s works are in many private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. His paintings have been in galleries in Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Montana, Palm Springs, La Jolla, and San Diego. Charles Wren pulled into the Old Medical College of Georgia on Telfair Street for his maintenance job Monday morning and had to do a double take. Over the brick wall to his left, in front of the Old Academy of Richmond County building, was a massive, shining serpent slithering along the ground.

It’s Time to Build a DRAGON!

Don’t Miss Wanta’s Final Demo of the Season
On October 5, 2011 Wanta Davenport will conduct a demonstration of how to paint a landscape using a black and white photograph as her study. See attached photograph.
In addition Wanta will be painting on OSB (oriented strand board) which adds texture and depth to the painting. Wanta will explain where to obtain OSB, and how to prepare the board for painting. To register Go to: http://www.

Learn to Paint a Seascape with Wanta
Wanta Davenport Conducts Colloquium:
Painting a Seascape
During a two-hour session Wanta Davenport, owner of Artistic Perceptions, will demonstrate the elements of painting a rose.
Working with oil paint and starting with a virtually blank canvas Wanta will:
¤ Explain the tools required – Canvas type and size, Paint colors, brushes and palettes
¤ Explain and demonstrate the mixing of paint colors
¤ Demonstrate and discuss brush strokes
¤ Discuss composition
While Wanta may not complete the entire painting during the two-hour session, she encourages questions from participants and is willing to arrange additional sessions if needed. A DVD review of techniques discussed in the session will be available for participants and can be purchased by those not able to attend the live demonstration.
