The Zimmerman Gallery will be hosting the 2012 Whiskey Painters of America show from the end of September until the end of October. This is a very popular exhibit and many of the paintings are sold the first few days. If you have interest in a painting we recommend that you check out the show early.
A WHISKEY PAINTING is a miniature watercolor (4”x 5” max. image) painted by a bona-fide member of the WHISKEY PAINTERS OF AMERICA (WPA).
The WPA, formed in the late 1950s has a limited membership of 150. An artist must be sponsored by an existing member. ” A genuine Whiskey Painting consists of painting a miniature piece of art no larger than 4 X 5″ with watercolor by dipping your brush in some form of alcoholic spirits,…. then possibly sipping the alcohol, thereby enhancing the painting experience.
Whiskey paintings have been exhibited in at least 10 national shows across the nation. At this time, WPA has 2 annual shows…one in Cuyahoga falls, Ohio in April [It's 30' Th year], and one in Augusta, Georgia Sept.-Oct…[it's 8 Th year] . Other shows have been held in Commercial Galleries and Art Museums across the nation.. Paintings generally sell from a minimum of $ 75. to as high as $1500., with an average typically between $ 150. and $ 300.
